Catalyst Atlanta 2009

Posted by Matt on September 29, 2009 with 0 Comments

I am really excited to have to opportunity to go to Catalyst Atlanta this year.  I am going with work, and we have some pretty cool projects we will be working on while we are down there.  One of my primary jobs while I am in Atlanta will be to keep our newest website up to date.  CatalystCouch.com is an all in one resource center for conference goers, and also for those who wish they were at the conference.

Footer to Bottom

Posted by Matt on September 25, 2009 with 0 Comments

I was shown some code that I guess I have taken for granted for a long time.  I never thought about it, I just saw the affect and it looked right.  I could ask the simple question; where should the footer go?  You all know the answer I’m sure, which is the bottom of the page.  But what happens when you have a page with very short content?  The footer tends to do a little creeping on you.

Yeah, I am That Guy

Posted by Matt on September 10, 2009 with 0 Comments

A good friend of mine, Ted, let loose an awesome site a couple of weeks ago.  We have all been “that guy” at one time or another, and Ted has now given us a place to rag on one another.  YeahIAmThatGuy.Com is a genius place to go and complain about “that guy.” Go check it out, and submit to the good cause.  You can also hash tag #YIATG on Twitter.

Preface: I realize that two of the plugins on the list are written by a coworker of mine, Chris Jean. Funny thing is, I have been using his plugins since before I knew him.  They are amazing!

New Site Design

Posted by Matt on August 27, 2009 with 1 Comments

Welp, if you are here, and have been here before, you probably noticed that it looks different.  I’m going for a bit of a minimalistic thing, since this is now going to be mainly a blog, and not a showcase of my photography.  If you still want to see that for some reason, just click here.  This is the main design that is going to live here for a while.  Small changes are inevitable, because I like to tweak things until they look like crap again.

Redesign and Rebrand

Posted by Matt on August 14, 2009 with 1 Comments

Knowing what I now know, after only a few months on the job at WebDesign.Com, I am ready to do a site redesign.  Don’t get me wrong, I love the site you see before you, but I am ready to start out the RIGHT way.  With all the work to get it to the “right” way, I might as well redesign, right?

I want my site to look good, and focus will definitely be put on that.  But more importantly, I want my site to be found easily.  Over the past few weeks, I have literally become obsessed with SEO on client sites.  WordPress offers so many opportunities to get a great Google ranking, and I want to build my site from the ground up for Google.  When I started this site, I barely knew what a meta-tag was.  Now, I am pretty competent with the tricks of the trade.
