Here are a few pictures I wanted to share from my recent trip to New York City and Philadelphia. We were in Philly for a WordCamp, but decided to take a few extra days and enjoy New York as well.
Yesterday, Cory made the public announcement that I would be starting as the new Chief Operating Officer for our company. “Thrilled” doesn’t even begin to describe the feelings I had when the news went public. I am extremely grateful for the opportunities I have be blessed with, and wanted to take the opportunity to fill some people in on how all of this came to be.
My junior year of college, while I was Colorado skiing with Cory and some friends, Cory first brought up the idea of me coming to work for iThemes. At the time, iThemes was in need of someone to help respond to sales emails. I had a little bit of experience with WordPress (meaning I had broken a few sites, and begged Cory to help me fix them), and Cory thought I could help lighten the load of sales emails. Recently, iThemes Builder received an update that included support for alternate module styles. Basically, this means that any of Builder’s modules can be styled multiple ways, and you can choose which style you want on a module-to-module basis. If you want to see this in action, check out our latest child theme, Americana. It features four alternate module styles.

I’ve been working with Brad to get a free WordPress theme our for a while. We thought this would be a good way for iThemes to give something back to the WordPress community (along with our free plugins, core contributions, and codex additions). I must say, the process of adding a theme to WordPress Extend isn’t the most friendly one, but it is there none-the-less. The new theme is called Quick-Vid. It is a Tumblr inspired theme intended for quick blogging.
